Dermorphin is a naturally occurring peptide and powerful opioid found in the skin of certain South American frogs, particularly Phyllomedusa species. It is a heptapeptide (seven amino acids long) and is notable for its extremely potent analgesic (pain-relieving) effects—reported to be up to 30–40 times more powerful than morphine when administered directly into the central nervous system.
